A mentor-mentee relationship is complicated. From understanding the politics of each others’ psychology and psyche, to the workings of the mind of another individual can be a complex affair!

Today analytics, numbers and research can predict what you’re thinking even before you do!

Using this information effectively involves understanding ‘triggers’, and how they work.

These triggers could be related to pain or pleasure, and our most common subconscious reactions are to fear and love.

Fear, the inability to see the possibility of a situation leading to a positive result; the result,a sinking feeling of desolation.

Love, the euphoric exhilaration of being in seventh heaven by enjoying basic sensory pleasures.

One can use these triggers as guides to elicit responses from people, or, one can use these triggers to motivate.

Some of us perform best in a relaxed state of mind, and some of us perform best under pressure.

Lucky are those who have sensory triggers - smell, touch, money, music, taste.

A mentor’s responsibility is to understand triggers, and it’s the mentee’s responsibility to acquaint the mentor with their psychology - to an extent.
