Public Image on the World Cup

Big event starting this week. Football fans have been waiting this moment for four years, and as a Mexican hope arises even though we get disappointed every World Cup. Talking about Mexico’s National Team, big scandal happened last week and it has all to do with public image.

Third week of summer school and BIG week for all football fans around the world (sorry, USA): FIFA World Cup. Around the world, millions of people are just waiting to see their national team’s debut at Russia 2018, myself having big hopes — sadly, with low expectations — on Mexico’s National Team. But let’s get to the point: Mexico’s Team had the worst start despite their debut is still two days from now; it has all to do with their public image, as the whole team got involved into a big scandal after they farewell match in Mexico City.

After Mexico’s game against Scotland — in which they showed no team essence despite winning — the team got into a big party in a mansion on one of the most exclusives zones in Mexico City, with players staying more than 24 hours and a big scandal that got into light saying they even got the visit from more than 30 women — escorts, presumably — despite most of the players are currently married.

TWO WEEKS BEFORE WORLD THE WORLD CUP DEBUT!

There are reports on Mexico’s national networks that more than 8 players got a personal situation with their families, even Hector Herrera — best midfielder for Mexico and Portugal’s Porto captain — had to skip one trainning to go to Portugal with their family… Of course, they didn’t argue on how they should name their new dog.

This information do not match the facts, but the reality is that even though they were on a free day — given by Mexico’s head coach — image matters, and you can’t get into this type of scandal two weeks from the World Cup. They might be innocent, but the way the players and the public media of the National Team handled the situation, leaves a big disturbed feeling for the fans that hope their team make a good WC.
