The Hottest City In The World

Where is it:

The hottest city in the world is located in Dallol, Ethiopia. Dallol is a very unique city becuse of it’s supernatural colours, mineral patterns, and the acidic fluids of hydrothermal springs.

Temperature:

Dallol is very hot; temperatures can reach up to 116°F (41°C) in the summer. The reason for the extreme heat is due to an extremely low elevation meaning it is under sea level. Heat is retained in low elevation areas which causes extreme heat. In the winter Dallol’s temperature can reach up to 96°F (35°C).

Population:

There are no people livin in Dallol full time due to the extreme wheater and inhabitable land. Since Dallol is full of acidic, salty hot ponds it also doesn’t allow life to form. However, in the past, several commercial operations have been in and around Dallol. People have mainly come to Dallot for mining, and from converting potash to salt. Much of this work has stopped in the 1960s, due to Dallol’s remote location. Just like humans, there are no animals in Dallol.
