The Social Dilemma on Netflix.

The recent documentary that I’ve seen on Netflix is a really interesting one that has been seen in the most recent times. It touches all the real points to an extent where you start guessing and doubting everything that is around you would end up even questioning whether the very same documentary is there as means of manipulation. Is it?

Not towards the end of the documentary but even in the middle of it you would end up uninstalling not just one but multiple social accounts that you may have. I have done it. And this is not the first time that I have uninstalled social media accounts, I have not deleted my profile but then just uninstalled the apps, and sooner or later each and every one of these apps comes back probably in a week’s time or a month but they surely did get back.

It is not like we as humans we do not know that any of these apps that take a lot of our time and attention away from the family around us which is not good for us but then there is something that is stopping us from doing it. One may call it as an addiction but deep down I believe that we all know the harm that the social media accounts and apps are doing to us.

I understand it is difficult to get rid of these apps, It doesn’t come naturally to us. We as human beings have mastered or tried to be safe around the daily used objects which are sharp and dangerous like a knife, the electricity, and the fire.

This is because we understand the harm that these objects can cause to us and we as adults keep educating our children on the right way of using these tools from a very young age.

With pandemic that is hovering around us, it might be difficult to interact with the outside world physically but we got to do what we have to.

We need to wrap our heads around the fact in identifying an app or a social media account to be dangerous enough to even think from the standpoint where we could educate ourselves and the rest of us around us about the harm that these accounts can cause. That should be the first step. It is like the safety announcements made by the air hostess on a flight that you first need to attend to yourself before you could attend to a younger one.
