Big Journey with the small step

The first class gave some interesting and useful insights into the basics of Marketing, Digital marketing, Building a brand, Finding a niche, the Importance of Community and network building.

Here is what I have learned in the 1st class.

LDT (Learn — Do –Teach)

Learn, Do and Teach model helps you to retain the knowledge for a longer time. Unlike reading which helps you retain only 70% of what you have read. Because what we learn and take action with a plan, registers the learning in an organized manner. Which in turn makes us understand the concept in a simple way. The Simple understanding of a concept enables you to teach the same in a simple way. To teach the topic in a simple way, you go deeper into the topic and understand the same thoroughly, hence it stays in your mind for a longer time. If you cannot explain or teach a topic in a simple way, you have not understood the topic at all.

Community and Network Building

This internship helps us build a community of like-minded people. This community helps you grow as an individual and as a group by helping each other. Example: Your friend can make you understand the topic better, which you had never understood by listening to your lecturer for an hour. A strong professional community encourages creating and utilizing more opportunities and earn more.

Find the Gold

This concept is about finding the growing needs of the market and finding solutions to growing needs. The solutions to existing needs lead to more needs. Example: to eliminate the need for holding your mobile near your ears while talking to someone over the phone, the earphones were invented. The Earphone industry is a big industry today although it’s a subsidiary industry to the mobile industry. Again it has niches like wireless Bluetooth earphones, wireless Bluetooth sports earphones and the list goes on.

GOAL AND COMMITMENT

Deepak asked us to write down the goal and be committed to achieving it by following routine and discipline. Although Sachin Tendulkar is called God of Cricket, in the worst scenarios even God takes shelter behind the Wall. The Wall — Rahul Dravid himself once said, although he is not talented player like Sachin, his handwork, perseverance, and continuous net practices made him Mr. Dependable and infused a solid confidence in audience that, if Dravid is in the crease, even though India is in worst situation, the chance and hopes of winning will always be alive.

Marketing

It’s all about understanding human psychology and providing a solution to a problem and how to communicate your solution to people so that people actually buy your solution. Hence it’s important to be a marketer first, rather than just mastering running Facebook ads/ Instagram ads. Because the tools we use in digital marketing keeps changing but the techniques and concepts of marketing has remained constant for decades.

FINDING NICHE

What keeps coming to your mind on a regular basis? List those topics and do market research using tools like ask the public, google suggestion. Find the micro-niche and start working from the bottom and make it to the top. My niche is Human Psychology, my micro niche is psychology for working professionals. Helping them to handle work pressure due to targets, office politics, discouraging bosses, etc.

You should follow your passion and develop talent for the same so that you can make money for the market opportunity it has.

PERSONAL BRANDING

You have to become a market leader in your niche. For decades Nokia was a synonym for Mobile, through the durability, quality of its products. But as it didn’t upgrade itself with the changing technology, it has vanished from the market. Hence, you have to keep learning new things and upgrade yourself with new topics every day.

Final words.

Unlike my previous course, this internship programme has a community of like-minded people, which is, in turn, has boosted my confidence in learning and making most out of this internship. Adding to this Deepak also gave away Startup Course for free, which gives detailed and step-wise insights on requirements and procedures for creating a start-up and running it successfully.
