The world is changing

We are in a situation that no one has ever had to deal with in their lifetime. We are in the middle of a medical pandemic. Yes, we have had these before however, they were at a time were medical systems weren’t as well set up, social media wasn’t a thing and neither was the internet. So yes while it is incredibly serious the world wasn’t updated every few minutes on what was happening. It is affecting every inch of this wonderful world. It is a pandemic.

I have debated writing this for some time. I have worried that it might be taken the wrong way or make someone upset. But I am choosing to be myself in every way and these words are my thoughts and feelings. They are my guiding light for me. My words are just that my words. This situation we are in is extremely serious. But we are human need to come together to help and share the love with each other.

Today we are scrolling all the time to get the lasted update, people are sharing their stories and fears through Social Media and the media is always providing an update, however they are not always the same. All can be a bit different or give you some different information.

In my opinion, we are all creating this world that is filled with fear at the moment. We are allowing our fear to spill out into our actions and our interaction with others.

Currently here in AUS, everyone is calling for the schools to be closed while our government says that it is important and safe for our children to attend school and for schools to stay open. I am all for schools staying open. I think that it would not help the current situation at all. And at the time I am writing this we only have some 700 cases. Which when you look at the grand scheme of things and compared to other countries it’s not that many. And in keeping schools open we allow our kids to keep some sort of normality. Because as far as after school activities everything is called off and stopped. They only normal for them is in school. Plus our school holidays happen in a week. And in that time we can keep our kids home and look after our communities. It is such a big job our government has and so many life changing decision they need to make. Our government is making choice to help keep our communities safe and we need to be thankful for that.

The other thing that is just blowing my mind is the fact that people have it in their heads that they need to stock up huge amounts of food. They are empty the shelves of food and toilet paper. I truly mean empty our shelves. It is going to take days to be able to fully restock the shelves and even then I feel like the supermarkets might actually have to close. It fully on! The panic and fear is spreading like the virus. It is causing the most havoc. In fact I think in some cases it is worse than anything else. Fear is truly a dangerous thing.

Currently we are doing good here in Australia. We are able to control the spread slowly so our health care system is not overwhelmed but for this to continue we all need to remain level headed. We need to follow the medical advice we are getting if we feel comfortable doing so. This virus is not going to go away and for me and a lot of Aussie, we are yet to get it bad. It is still warm here and I just pray that we don’t get it worse during our winter. I am just hoping that we are able to come through this for the better in some way. I also feel like we need to allow social media to be a place of happiness and positivity. Because we all turn to it in times like this and allowing it to become fear-based it not going to help anyone.

These are just my thoughts. They might change but for now I know that our leaders are doing the best because we are in a situation we have never had to been in. Everyone is learning as we go. It’s tough and we need to come together.

Our world is changing. Our world will never be the same. Our world is dealing with grief on a shocking level. Our world is learning.
